Hi Gents,

I realize that engine blocks have a rough finish but my block has these cracks showing. It is so rough that it will cut your skin. Is this normal? Please tell me yes...

I work for a company that may likely have supplied the metal to cast that block. That does not look ideal- shouldn’t have left factory like that, could be a casting issue- could be an alloying issue too much SI too early can cause “wrinkling” like that- it’s not ideal, but shouldn’t be something to worry about in terms of failure. It’s more cosmetic.

My ‘19 looks pretty much the same way. You couldn’t sell a performance/race block looking like this, but apparently you can in a 70k truck. Kind of like pot metal.
