It's odd that a truck built to be driven in the dessert would need a block heater. Anyways, I think the block heater is only needed/available north of the border.

Haha...i just noticed this yesterday on my truck and had to take a double take, because at first glance i thought that it was broken out. I assumed it was for some form of wiring routing.

Using the Factory Ford Light Bar, the instructions show the grill opening is for the wiring harness from the lights.

Why is it odd? It doesn't need a block heater, and it wasn't built to only drive in the desert (one "s"....the 2 "s" dessert is food, 2 s's because you always want more lol).

My 00 HD had a block heater and it was great. Even though it didn't need it, when it would go below freezing I'd plug it in, and in the morning the truck would already be cranking heat by the time I hit the end of my road. Where without it, it'd take several miles before the heat started cranking.

Since the Raptor has remote start I wasn't as upset about not having a block heater option, but still would have been a nice-to-have feature.

nope, back when Randy was trying to trade the Black Crew for a Molten Orange one for me, one dealer almost traded us one from North Dakota that had everything and a block heater. was even on the window sticker.

Yeah, there are certain states that are damn near a requirement to have them. Dakota's, Wisconsin, Minnesota and a few others.

Don't need it here in Florida! :D

According to the window sticker, my Raptor is supposed to come with an engine block heater. Any idea where the cord would be located if so equiped? TIA.

Thanks to all for the responses. My block heater 'extension cord' was in a seperate baggie. It attaches under the engine on the driver's side just in front of the front wheel. Then you need to snake it to the 'hole' in the lower grill on the left side of the license plate area and you are set. It connects to a three pin cable that has a cover protecting it. The owner's manual is good about how to use, when to use, how long to warm everything up, etc., but not where any of the cords or connects are located. Now we all know. Thanks, again.
