Yeah, but obviously they were there for a reason. Just curious if there's any repercussions to taking them off.

Good question Dan. And I was going to ask the OP if he had any steering radius limitations.

If you go back to the RPG thread that released the new LCA, you would find that RPG added them in after about a year of testing. So yes, they are there for a reason.

Perhaps they were too big though? Looks like the OP several reduced the size.

"With regards to the steering system my personal truck in testing suffered outboard CV damage that we absolutely attributed to not having the steering stops built into our initial set of lower arms. Keep in mind the main function of the steering stop is to make sure you limit the extreme angles on the outboard CV when the wheel is turned at full lock and under extreme bump and droop travel. Steering stop location is key in reducing and preventing compounding CV angle. This isn’t my opinion, but fact, hence why the factory incorporates it into the lower arm. As you all know when ripping across the dirt in the middle of nowhere, the last thing you feel like suffering is major CV issues especially if your in sand or conditions like we found in the deep snow on the Snoball. Either way, we will always take our time and produce a part that is close to factory specs as we can." (RPG's quote)

I've been following the development of this product, considering my suspension upgrade options. I knew there was mention to this. Just took a moment to find it.

I didn't just grind off the stops without checking. I had a long talk with RPG about it and got their blessing. With the stops on there I lost just over 1/2 turn of my steering wheel (try it sometime, it's pretty drastic). I couldn't park the truck anymore and had to 6 point turn to get it into my garage.

We took off the front stops down to about 1/4 inch, and just a small grind on the rear stops. we then checked it to make sure the CV's were over extending or that the tire was rubbing on the bypasses or anything else.

I still don't have full steering back, but now i'm down to about 1/8 of a turn of the wheel lost, which makes it much more maneuverable in slow speed situations.

The rear leafs rearched solved my ride problem in the rear, and I've set rebound and compression, as well as preload (6.5 threads showing) and the trucks ride is perfect. It soaks up bumps, doesn't chatter or bounce down the road, and i'm not hitting the bump stops anymore in daily driving.

I cannot wait to get this truck off road, I believe it is finally dialed in, and I'm very happy. The guys are RNR were super patient with me, let me bug them in the shop the entire time, and did a fantastic job.

thanks,
Peter

Think they'll adjust the LCA's produced in the future to account for you experience? Rather not have to modify them if I bought a set.

My stock steering turns stop-to-stop were about 3 1/2 turns.

After RPG LCA's my steering turns stop-to-stop are 2 3/4 turns.

If you get a chance can you post what your steering turns are after your modification?

That's a good question. I think those stops have given them more issues than help, but it's a tough call. go conservative, lose some steering, but not risk tearing anything up. I can confirm mine is having no issues and lock in both directions.

as for the leaf's, mine were almost totally flat before any of the stage 4+ stuff I did, I think I just had a bad set from National, they sent me a re-arched set for free and it looks to have cleared everything up. There is a local guy in Fort Worth who will re-arch leaf springs for 60 bucks, so that's an option if you're local.

Peter, thanks for posting all this information for us to enjoy and learn from.

When did you get your original leaf springs? And what were they arched to?

The original ones came from RPG, but I added an outlaw rack, two spares, tools and jack in the bed after I had the stage 3 done. No idea what they we arched to, but the new ones which are still standards fixed her right up

Got a little muddy today, the suspension works great
