Drain tubes on hard tonneau cover?

I have the Ford hard tonneau cover on my Gen 2 and it doesn’t require drilling at all and keeps everything dry. A few drops get in right at the front sometimes if it rains heavily. I had that other cover on my Gen 1 and I didn’t like it. The drain tubes would pop out all the time and water would get in anyway. The Ford one is easy to take off in about 2 minutes as well.

I did mine. Drilled a hole in the plastic bed cut outs. (do it on a bench).

Took like 2 ins each side. Tough choice on drilling into liner. See how much water collects and add them later if needed i guess.

The last one I did was fine otherwise you will have water in your truck all the time. That’s what black silicone is for You need to secure the tubes in anyway because otherwise they keep creeping out of the hole

Drain tubes installed on my Bakflip4 / 2017 Rator. Zero water in bed after MANY hard rains this year. Those plastic cover plates are dirt cheap from Ford. No brainer.

After a good amount of rain on the truck before I pulled it into the garage last night, no water I could see without the drain tubes.

However, if/when I install them, I will likely do what OP outlined in this thread:

I have never installed the drain tubes on either my 16 F150 or my 18/19 Raptor. Has not been an issue with any measurable water in the box and we get tropical downpours.

I did this. Essentially the “before” version. I just took one of the drain tubes, cut it in half and took each half and jammed it into that top drain hole on each side. Works perfect.
