Look, nobody's getting mad or huffy about anything. I recognized Greg's helpful comments earlier. The thing is, I've seen people ask about doing lift kits on the forums, putting 22's in their truck on the forums, and a myriad of other things that are unique to them and their truck, and everytime someone says, "oh well you should just got get a different vehicle" just because they're doing something with the truck that someone else doesn't want to do is kind of a crap answer. I recognize Greg knows stuff I don't about the truck, and that's awesome, but just because I'm going to occassionally use my truck to do something he wouldn't, does that mean I should go buy an Impreza instead? No. If any one of you had a question about doing something with the Raptor that seemed plausible and you asked for help with the theory and the answer you got back was "go buy something else," would you feel particularly helped? I doubt it. So I said how in the hell is that useful? So, I used the word hell. Now I'm a loose cannon and volatile and a forum chihuahua! RAWR! I'm not bagging on Greg or angry at him or saying I hope he dies in a fire. Did I type my post in all caps like I was having a coniption? Did I call him a ****** or an *******? Nope.

You're right. It doesn't claim to be built for speed. It also doesn't claim to be able to win the Baja 1000 right off the assembly line, but that doesnt stop people from getting them and modifying them to try it. So, they want to see what they can do. That's all I'm doing. I never said I wanted to whup up on some Evo's and STI's or set a new world record. I'm just asking IF I run a quarter in this truck in this drive mode, WHAT are the possible outcomes. I just want to see what it can do. If I somehow win a drag racing competition over here, I'll be sure and let you guys know. Just don't hold your breath waiting for that.

So..... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Greg! <3

On a side note, do any of you that have run a quarter have a Whipple or Roush and custom exhaust with headers? If I ever get my truck, it's supposed to have that kind of setup and I'm curious what numbers you guys are getting.

Awesome, thanks, Joe.

Yeah, that seems to be the concensus from the other forum as well. So, just because I'm curious about how things work, why is it not okay to turn in 4 high on asphalt/hardpack, but it's okay to do it in the dirt? What's the concern here? Turning at speed or turning at all while in 4 high?

It's turning in 4x4, not the speed. In a turn the front tires spin at a different speed then the rear. The transfercase is a 50/50 split sending power equally to the front and rear differential. There's no place for the front to rear wheel speed difference to compensate each other so the system binds. On pavement the tires have maximum traction so the binding puts a lot of force on the drivetrain. Less traction in dirt so the tires have a chance to slip and unload the drivetrain. Really I don't even like to turn tight on dirt in 4x4 unless I have to because there's still some bind that can be felt, where as mud, snow, ice the binding isn't even noticeable because the tires slip so much due to low traction.

It is more noticeable in the 2012 verses 2011... At Texas Raptor Run during Sundays mud run. I could feel the drivetrain wind up/load up while turning on the drier sections..

Would you guys say this is a much higher chance of damaging the drivetrain with a Whipple on it if a turn were necessary under power? That's where my truck is headed right now from the plant. Wondering if I made a bad bad decision haha.

Yeah I'd imagine the front diff change from open to limited slip didn't help.

Just use less throttle to make the turn. If you're going balls to the wall every tight turn expect something to break/wear out sooner.

You can definitely come off as yelling or having a conniption without using all caps or profanity, kind of like what you wrote above. If you don't read it that way, phone a friend and ask them how it sounds.

Not that its a big deal... you're high strung, I can respect that.:flowers2: But if you've read many posts around here you will see that there is usually a fair share of levity and bull crap answers in every post. Plus on any forum you are subject to other peoples opinions. You got actual answers and helpful information from some great people, including Greg, pirate air, and my wonderful husband, so I don't really see where there was a problem. :whymewhyme:

As far as the truck, I think you should get it Supercharged. Talk to Hennesey, I hear they are great!:emotions36:

I Kid, I Kid... Don't do that. :laughing1: Seriously, please don't do that, I could never be so mean as to purposely steer someone astray.

Good luck racing your 3 ton beast, and I do actually mean that sincerely.:burnout:

Dealing with these truck since the beginning and owning two of them. Yes, I know a little about them and YES, even I considered Hennessey/turbo/supercharger. After modding them have discovered it is hard (expensive) to make them run fast/quick down the strip. They have so much going against them from the factory. And once you correct/fix these issues, you literally remove everything that makes a Raptor a Raptor.
There is nothing against breaking the mold and doing your own thing.. Hell, look at me, from years of mudding i threw big ole negative offset wheels on my Raptor. Most think it is just for looks, but the real reason is to keep from all the mud filling up the wheel wells. Helping you to clean out the voids in the tires. Does it work? Yes.. Does it work with a Raptor, no.. As I found out at TRR, when you push your truck hard and air it out. Those negative offset wheels do nasty things to the Raptors fenders. I had several forum members advise me not to (birdman..), but i ignored their advice. Now I am switching out wheels to the Raptor standard (methods) and repairing the wheel hubs, cv joints, and my pride.

It is your Raptor and money. I say go for it and I hope you are successful.
