Look, nobody's getting mad or huffy about anything. I recognized Greg's helpful comments earlier. The thing is, I've seen people ask about doing lift kits on the forums, putting 22's in their truck on the forums, and a myriad of other things that are unique to them and their truck, and everytime someone says, "oh well you should just got get a different vehicle" just because they're doing something with the truck that someone else doesn't want to do is kind of a crap answer. I recognize Greg knows stuff I don't about the truck, and that's awesome, but just because I'm going to occassionally use my truck to do something he wouldn't, does that mean I should go buy an Impreza instead? No. If any one of you had a question about doing something with the Raptor that seemed plausible and you asked for help with the theory and the answer you got back was "go buy something else," would you feel particularly helped? I doubt it. So I said how in the hell is that useful? So, I used the word hell. Now I'm a loose cannon and volatile and a forum chihuahua! RAWR! I'm not bagging on Greg or angry at him or saying I hope he dies in a fire. Did I type my post in all caps like I was having a coniption? Did I call him a ****** or an *******? Nope.
You're right. It doesn't claim to be built for speed. It also doesn't claim to be able to win the Baja 1000 right off the assembly line, but that doesnt stop people from getting them and modifying them to try it. So, they want to see what they can do. That's all I'm doing. I never said I wanted to whup up on some Evo's and STI's or set a new world record. I'm just asking IF I run a quarter in this truck in this drive mode, WHAT are the possible outcomes. I just want to see what it can do. If I somehow win a drag racing competition over here, I'll be sure and let you guys know. Just don't hold your breath waiting for that.
So..... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Greg! <3
On a side note, do any of you that have run a quarter have a Whipple or Roush and custom exhaust with headers? If I ever get my truck, it's supposed to have that kind of setup and I'm curious what numbers you guys are getting.

Awesome, thanks, Joe.
Yeah, that seems to be the concensus from the other forum as well. So, just because I'm curious about how things work, why is it not okay to turn in 4 high on asphalt/hardpack, but it's okay to do it in the dirt? What's the concern here? Turning at speed or turning at all while in 4 high?
It's turning in 4x4, not the speed. In a turn the front tires spin at a different speed then the rear. The transfercase is a 50/50 split sending power equally to the front and rear differential. There's no place for the front to rear wheel speed difference to compensate each other so the system binds. On pavement the tires have maximum traction so the binding puts a lot of force on the drivetrain. Less traction in dirt so the tires have a chance to slip and unload the drivetrain. Really I don't even like to turn tight on dirt in 4x4 unless I have to because there's still some bind that can be felt, where as mud, snow, ice the binding isn't even noticeable because the tires slip so much due to low traction.
