Is that Wharton State Park?
Yes, this is just north of where atsion road hits rt 206. I just kept seeing "impound" and $500 and didn't go in; but I'm going back tomorrow now that I actually bothered to look at the damn laws...

Given the fact that it mentions on the sign "restoration costs" id say it means no vehicles off road at ALL, but that's me....

I think it It is considered State Park owned land. Yes they will take your toy and fine you if you left any tire marks, if you were doing some rooster tails it's big $$$.
Check out riderplanet-usa.com Trails, Parks, Permits, etc. listed as needed

We would just ride like we stole it to get away from them, but when we got back to the truck and trailer guess who was waiting and not happy. I have only known one person to have his Polaris Razor impounded and it didn't end well for him. It`s not good to have a attitude with the guy who is right and has a badge to prove it.

You can't even ride a motorcycle on the railroad tracks around here, they have the Conrail Police and the regular police have 2 Suzuki DRZ 400`s and they will take you bike, quad or whatever and its not coming back to you.

It's against the law to have fun in the dirt NJ, But I can go street race in Newark or other numerous local`s. Englishtown/Raceway Park has closed and they had a dirt course you could drive on plus they had the NHRA Nationals there. Flemington Speedway is long gone. I check out the pictures that are posted here and boy am I jealous!!!

I did a lot of looking at the Wharton State forest site and it appears that the sign is the legalize behind their rules. From the WSF site: "Your vehicle must be "street legal". This means that it's properly licensed, registered and insured to operate on public roadways, you are permitted to drive it on the designated public roads within State property, whether they are paved, gravel or sand. It is strongly recommended you have a 4WD vehicle, though not mandatory. All-terrain vehicles (ATV's) are PROHIBITED. Speed limit is 20 MPH on all roads."

I'm going back today. I'll let you know how it turns out. Being a retired, uniformed federal cop usually doesn't hurt either...
