Highly doubt sport mode, meant for street use, engages the rear locker. More likely, the clutch packs kicked in when wheel spin was detected. Remember, in addition to the locking rear, there is a clutch pack in there for AWD mode.

Clutch packs in an electric locker? I have never seen a diff that was both a limited slip and locker. Cool if it is but new to me.

Rear of my '03 TJ Rubicon is. Air locker though. Still limited slip when not locked. So they do exist.

I didn't think the new Raptor had it though. Sweet if it does! I know the Gen 1 doesn't.

My read of this is that the poster above is correct. It is in the Xfer case.

The 2017 Raptor's transfer case will be able to switch to four-wheel when necessary for on-road duties via electronic clutches. When it's time to leave the pavement—or, indeed, the ground entirely—mechanical locks will kick in and provide solid, durable power transfer for that desert run or rock-crawling excursion. Ford tells us this is the first system of this kind.

This new t-case will weigh marginally more than the previous on-the-fly system, but we're told the benefits greatly outweigh that, making the new Raptor a lot more streetable. Add to that the fact that the new Raptor will be 500 pounds lighter and more powerful than before, and we can easily let the added weight of the more complex system slide.

Can we clarify "who" is "talking" about what? The TRANSFER CASE and the REAR DIFFERENTIAL are two entirely different animals. So, what DOES what, OR which entity is capable of what action?

Here's an explanation of the transfer case since it was brought up but I think the question here is about the diff which I do not think locks in sport mode.

The clutch driven AWD is engaged by putting the truck in 4A and the mechanically locked 4WD is engaged by putting the truck in 4H.

"The dual-mode transfer case delivers a driving experience that supplies clutch-driven, on-demand all-wheel drive capability for everyday driving regardless of road conditions, while also providing the confidence of a mechanically-locked, durable four-wheel drive system for severe, off-road environments."
