Today, I went to Costco to fuel my truck. It was $4.119 / Gal. Still not bad.
I usually go to gas station when the guage hits empty, just like today.
It was about $80 and 26 Gal. to fill up before gas price went crazy, and now even $100 cant be full tank. - Costco cut the pump off when $ becomes 100.

Anyway, after I top off the tank from empty, I drove off the gas station, then I felt like this truck got heeeeeeeavy and the engine rev more than it was empty.
When people talk about eco-driving, they always say 'Don't top off your fuel tank. More fuel means more weight.'
I'm not a eco-driving kind of person but if it is really heavy, I wouldn't top off for performance of safety.
Anyone knows how much 26 Gal. of fuel weighs?
And what do you think about this full tank thing?

PS. I just put this picture because posting without picture looks like boring text book.

This is my favorite car wash. They wash by hand fully, even they use hose and cloth to water and soap it.

I don't think the "eco" concern with topping off is weight related. I think its with overflow (spillage) and that's definitely something I've noticed with the Raptor. For whatever reason, when the pump clicks off, it really means full. When I try and top off beyond that, a few seconds later I'll notice gas spilling out under the cap and onto the pavement. Money out the door (oh yeah, and of course I'm ruining the planet too :picard:)

PS: I paid $3.50 for E85 yesterday. The same station had regular unleaded for $4.40. Although that's WAY too much for E85, relatively speaking I was happy to pay it.

I've noticed that too. As I understand it, topping off may damage your evap emission control by contaminating the activated charcoal.

The Screws have a 36 gal tank so 218.6 pounds, and no enthanol :( but I never go below 1/2 tank. I was in Georgia 3 years ago when gas stations RAN OUT! when premium was gone I actually saw people putting ethanol into old cars "no choice dude". lasted about 3 weeks, luckily I had 2 cars with full tanks so we just didn't go anywhere. very scary though!

My grandad with his old Caddy would never fill up more than half-way because of the extra weight, that was before gas hit even $2.50/gallon. He probably had a 100 gallon tank on that '71 Coupe De'Ville. :)

Screw the mpg ----- keep all of my vehicles full as possible. Never let mine get much below a half tank. Condensation for example can become an issue if you leave a almost empty vehicle in let’s say 40 degrees then decide to drive a short distance after a rapid warm up say 75 degrees not uncommon here.

The condensation will be knocked off the inside of the tank by the fuel---water is not a good thing in your fuel. Full tank means less surface area for moisture to form.
