I searched around and I see lots of custom boxes that take up a majority of the area underneath the rear seats. Has anyone every thought about making a custom enclosure out of the Sony box? Closest I could find in my search was this https://www.f150forum.com/f30/diy-subwoofer-box-duha-bin-lets-bashing-begin-149438/ post. My previous vehicle (Jeep Rubicon) had a rear sub box with an 8" Inifinity sub. I cannibalized the original box and fiberglassed in a 10" mount for a Pioneer shallow sub. Overall it sounded decent and worked well with the Infinity sound system. Doing the same with the Sony sub enclosure wouldn't be a far stretch. Thoughts?

I was thinking about reusing the existing plastic enclosure, but had some scrap material laying around and made a box out of 0.5" MDF with fiberglass to reinforce the inside. Carpet material was left over from another project and would have liked it to be black. I may change it out later. Overall sound is much improved. Power is supplied by an XC2110 amp. I'm using a shallow mount Pioneer 8" sub. I'll probably fab some mounts/tabs to hold the sub in place using the existing inserts in the body, but it's fairly stable where it is under the seat.

I modded the stock sub enclosure on my 802A ’17, now sporting an 8” kicker + 300w Kenwood amp. I need the undersea space. I think there’s room back there for an enclosure but it will need to be something shallow. I’m not sure what the 10” candidates would be to still be behind the seat.
