Do the whole system. It really is an overall improvement over stock. No more crushed tips or tons of mud hanging off the exhaust. Thing is super strong as well......

Will it work with a Kook's Catted Y-Pipe? I'm incrementally upgrade the exhaust from the tip forward, so just trying to plan for the next step?

My Roush had a terrible drone.
No Resonator, small Roush muffler etc... I added a 2.5 inch 26 inch long Helmholtz (J pipe) before muffler.
Cost $25, totally killed the drone at 1900-2000 rpm

Reviving this thread a little bit. My stock exhaust is in desperate need of a replacement. Anyone have any feedback or reviews on the 24” set up that’s a little more specific to what I’m about to say?

My big thing is that I don’t want the truck much louder than it is currently for what I use it for (hunting), but I also want something a little less restrictive overall. Basically, I don’t want to cruise up a canyon and let everyone know I’m coming or wake up everyone within 10 miles when I get up in camp in the morning. I also wasn’t initially a huge fan of the exit before the tire, but it’s grown on me. Any help is appreciated!

I have the 16 on my truck super pleased with it. Has some bark at low idle and mellow on the highway.

The stock exhaust is not a restriction. Aftermarket exhausts are for noise on these, performance gain is immeasurable on an otherwise stock truck. I am not saying there is no value in exhaust, I have Corsa on mine, love it... but it isn't a performance enhancement so don't buy into the sales hype.

If you really want it quiet on the outside post a want to buy for another stock exhaust, I am sure there are some like new ones squirreled away in peoples sheds.

I had a 16" originally. Great sound, but just a little too loud for me while driving long distance wirh family. I changed to a 20" and could not be happier. I have had it for 4 or 5 years now, no issues. I have retired my truck from family duties, and I am now looking to get a 12". They are really easy to change, so I will prob keep the 20" and switch back if a need comes up.

I agree with you 100% when talking about horsepower. I just thought it was worth mentioning that I had hangers on the over the axel exhaust break, fall on the axel, and crack the break line. I've seen it twice, on my Gen 1 and on a Gen 2. So not going up and over the axel is a "performance" enhancement, just not in the way most people think.
