Thats their 8” deep toolbox bin. Got them to powercoat all of it black. The side rails are for the ATV ramps

The only negative I remember from my Diamondback is the cross-bin doesn't hold a lot of weight. I had a bunch of recovery gear in it and it'd sag and slide to the point where it'd fall off the bed sides and wedge itself diagonally. It was a real PITA to unload and try to get it unwedged without removing the cover. I was getting ready to drill some holes and use locking pins to hold it in place before I decided to sell the truck.

Ya. Thats what i did. Holes and pins to keep it put. On side wall not top

Anybody using the DiamondBack 270? Just got it and did not see in all the installation videos that I have to drill holes in the bulkhead to install. Not really wanting to drill into the bed of my truck. Anyone had issues with it?

Yes, it's intimidating to drill holes in the bed! I followed the written instructions, and while they worked ok, in hindsight I'd set the cover onto the bed, put some weights on the cover to simulate how the weatherstripping will compress over time, adjust the rod's brackets so they're in the middle of the adjustment range, and then mark where the brackets should go.

Following the written instructions got me pretty close, and maybe it was my poor work, but one side was always a bit tight even with the adjuster maxed-out. When the rods are adjusted too tightly the rubber tips will catch and slide off a bit, making it impossible to open the lid without breaking the rubber tip off (or crawling inside the bed and removing the rod).

They should use a cam to tighten lock rods. Be so easy to do

I think that's only for the 270 version.

Thanks for the responses. Decided to do an exchange for the HD. Didn't like the way it open to the bed of the truck. I liked the idea of having 3 ways to access the bed but not having to drill into my truck was more important to me. Diamondback customer service has been amazing so far and plans to have the HD to me soon with a container to send the 270 back to prevent damage in shipping. I will try to update once I get the HD.
