The Gen 1 resale is strong until now? What happened? I bought a gen 1, 2 months ago. I drove every year raptor from 2011 to 2019. I landed on a 2012. I almost pulled the trigger on a 2017 but turbo engines have given me headaches over the years. The piping of engine sounds into the cab kinda ruined me on v6 Raps too. Gen 1 FTW!! Anyways, enjoy the hunt and drive a few different Raps and you'll know which one you want. The propper Raptor will talk to you..lol

Drive both.

You may prefer the tech of the Gen 2.
You may like having remaining warranty or maybe you don't gaf and want to mod it to oblivion.

I've had two Gen 1's. One NA and one boosted.
Wanted a Gen 2 as I don't mind the Ecoboost.

May go back to a Gen 1+ more mod money, but this time focus on suspension instead of going faster.

While offroading, I preferred the NA Gen 1 engine as there was just less to worry about heat wise. And for the most part 411hp is plenty in a 3 ton truck offroad.
500rwhp was fun on the street but couldn't really use it offroad as much.

I was in the same boat when i bought my 2012 last year. Decided that 35k base price + 35k in upgrades on a gen 1 would give me a much more badass truck than a 70k gen 2. Just my .02

If I'm honest...

1. I bought the Gen2 because it looks ******* spectacular. Since its TT, that means more power that is hidden at stock. Interior is not too shabby either.

Valid points for sure.
The ability to simply get gobs more power out of a tune is ****.
Instead of dropping 7-10k on the blower, oil pump etc...

One thing that always bothered me way that I would had to get the 802A for the keyless ignition and cooled seats IIRC for the Gen 2.

Bastards.

Reevaluate your figures - shocks are 2k max for BRAND NEW, unless of course you believe your single, wrong, quote. Rebuilt under 1k. Ford under developed the gen 1 suspension? It's literally what makes a Raptor a Raptor. If you can't afford to service the vehicle, especially one that is purpose built, perhaps a regular F150 is in order where you can change the oil every 10k miles and not touch the suspension for the first 150k.

Oh, and I can't wait to see what those Live Valves will cost to rebuild when the time comes....
