Haha ^^^

So I've decided to get a dash cam, I've been seeing way too many funny dash cam vids on Facebook in this snow storm..

I was going to go with the gopro hero4 black, will pickup tomorrow I think,, anyone use one of these for such tasks?

Although the goPro hero4 black would have excellent picture quality, they are not really designed to be used as dash cams. With my RoadHawk HD, I get:

1) turns on and starts recording automatically whenever I turn on the truck
2) automatically uses loop mode for continuous recording
3) has gps to show speed and location
4) has g-shock sensor to detect accidents and permanently save recordings
5) good picture quality, although not as good as gopro

A gopro can be set up to do some of these things, but not all of them. Also someone is more likely to break into your truck and steal your gopro than they would if it was just a regular dash cam.

Edit just finished reading the thread

It was when I first got the dash cam. But then I ordered the hardwire kit they sell (about $20) and I ran the wire to my fuse box in the passenger kick panel and tapped into fuse 37. Now it turns on and off with the truck automatically.
