Thanks to @Waterfowler41 's youtube video and posts on here, I decided to reach out to CV Fabrication last night about pricing and release timeline on their new gen 3 downpipes.

I was pleasantly surprised to open my email this morning to a response that they are estimating late March / early April, and that pricing is $899 but they are accepting pre-orders for 5% off (~$850 shipped).

I immediately accepted the offer and paid up on the invoice. I cannot wait to get a set of these, I think they sound incredible from the footage that's available.

Do you know what cats the CV fab downpipes are going to be running? All the cost is in the quality of cat. SPD runs a pretty spendy 500cell cat.

That's a great question. I do not have any "insider" knowledge, other than the estimated release date and pricing that I just asked for last night.

Their gen2 downpipes have the following description on their website, I will ASSume that it will be the same for gen3:

  • T304 stainless steel

  • Features built-in turbo adapters to maximize exhaust throughput and reduce back pressure en route to lower exhaust gas temperatures (no need to purchase separately!)

  • No check engine light (CEL)

  • 3" diameter

  • High-flow 400 CPSI catalytic converters

  • High grade v-band clamp connections for advanced leak protection

  • High-flow catted downpipe

  • 100% mandrel bent

  • Fits both OEM and aftermarket exhausts

  • Fully TIG welded

  • CVF Lifetime Warranty

In a good way.....or a bad way....?
I guess in a bad way if I’m being honest…but dumping on other peoples preferences isn’t my thing. They’re fantastic trucks regardless. I just thought all aftermarket downpipes would sound similar, like intakes etc.

*edit* Also wanted to add the sound clips can be very misleading sometimes so I could be way off. Ill try to dig up a clip of my rig with the downpipes in normal driving conditions

Exhausts are very subjective and I totally respect your post.

I usually spend an autistic level amount of time trying to perfect my system to my ears. My other car is an M2 with the n55 engine and I’m running a catless downpipe and Dinan axle back, which to me is just *chefs kiss*. If I can get close to that on the raptor I will be very pleased.

Here ya go I just uploaded this:

SoCalPrerunning SPD Soundclip

Can you hear the difference? For others stumbling across this post these are SPD downpipes on a 22 raptor. I have custom mandrel bent tubing and new tips that were required to clear the rear suspension upgrades, but that should have minimal effect on sound I’m guessing.

Sounds good. What exhaust mode was it in?
