custom magnapack lightning exit exhaust

Can someone explain the color difference between the upper and lower pipes? I understand they will turn due to the heat output but why such a large difference here?

Is the lower (inner) pipe just a "dummy' pipe?

Wondered that myself. Its a y pipe feeding them so they both get exhaust gas thru them....
