Crawl/rock mode causes diff make noise , normal?

Question.. did you wait at all when switching to 4a? if you're on throttle hard while switching modes, it's possible the hubs don't connect right away if everything doesn't line up right away and wheels are not perfectly straight and going same speed as axles.
could've 3 legged it for a bit. should wait few seconds when switching modes on the fly, something did not complete the 'transfer'.. literally.

Either that, or your all wheel drive clutch system did not engage correctly, which should not happen. Or just too delayed in applying power towards front.
I usually lift throttle a little when switching any mode.. just to give it a little help to engage/dis-engage properly/fully. Torque can stick in any spot sometimes.
