While it is possible there was a previous accident I feel like it is not a high probability. A little more research shoes the gaps are not uncommon and it appears some people have reported similar cracks. Either way Ford sold it as a CPO, which according to their program standards means there can have been no previous damage to the vehicle. That combined with the clean carfax gives me enough evidence to at least make an argument that it should be repaired under warranty. I’ll see what happens. In the grand scheme these are minor cosmetic issues and the truck has driven fantastically since I purchased it.

serious question: Are there really body shops out there that don’t care that much? Unfortunately, I’ve been in a few collisions, deer, other vehicles and my experience with body shops has been largely positive. Not speaking of the process mind you. The 2 times I had my Mustangs worked on by local places in southern MD, both shops refused to accept or work with “quality replacement” parts, only factory OEM for repairs. Custom work was different. One of them was a custom shop and gave me a tour of various projects underway. Needless to say, when I got it back, alignment was literally perfect to within a thousandth of an inch. He told me they would use calipers to ensure it was right, so I checked with my own. Most of the body shop folks I’ve interacted with seem to scoff at sub-perfection.

My truck is getting g the rear beside replaced this week. I pressed my body shop to not use cheap parts, and they said OEM only or he won't do the work. He said he knows which insurance carriers try to push cheap parts and which dont.

hopefully they cover it because they certified it but just because there isn't an accident reported on car fax doesn't mean it couldn't have been. could have done something off-roading or elsewhere where an accident report wasn't made. I am sure there are plenty of shady shops out there that didn't file with a little palm greasing. the mis alignment could be due to that. Keep us posted how it turns out. I looked at the images again. the gap between the driver fender and hood looks smaller than the passenger fender and hood. could have come down really hard on the front driver side wheel. maybe jumped it or a huge *** pothole. hope thats not the case cus thats sucks when we rely on a car fax when buying used cars

at the end of the day if youre happy with it and confident thats all that matters.
