Hi all -
Last weekend I was at a raptor event here in the northeast. It was at an off-road park where they set up a small 2mi course with a small jump.
On my second time out, a coolant hose popped off when going over the jump and dumped close to 3/4 of coolant out of my truck. Truck got hot and went into limp mode and I limped back to the pits to asses the issue. CEL came on and coolant temps got up to 265°. I’m not sure if ford missed a hose clamp from the factory or what because I’ve never heard of something like this happening to anyone. My truck is a 2023 with 10k miles on it and this was my first time offroad.
Luckily, someone else there had a spare hose clamp and I was able to refill with coolant, although motorcraft was not available. I plan to have the coolant system flushed next time I take it in for service.
I guess my question is - is my engine ok? I was able to get all of the air bubbles out of the system, and the truck runs fine right now. I’m just wondering if because I drove about 2mi (very slowly) back to a safe area with hardly any coolant in the truck if there may be any internal damage. Thanks for the feedback engine gurus.
