you plan on buying used i assume. theres a lot to look for, basics are frame damage. check the distance from the bed to the cab, make sure its even. check the gap in the tailgate. front skid plate, crossmember for transmission, etc. if those check out, then start looking at other things.

I almost forgot about the bent frame issue.

It's been a while but it really came down to a group of guys pushing the Raptor past it's limitations if I recall. The Raptor is a great truck but like all vehicles, it has to meet certain safety regulations. One of these is a crumple zone in the frame. I'm no engineer, but I want to say their designed to absorb energy from a crash. It just so happens one of these crumple zones is located above the rear bump stops. Well these guys pushed the shocks past the point of absorbing anything and caused them to hit the bump stops and the bump stops pounded on the frame in the crumple zone area. Thus bending the frame.

We're talking serious abuse, not your occasional offroad trip.

Anyhow, there is several venders on this site who have created kits designed to box in this section of the frame preventing any issues.

FYI: This info concerns 1st Gen Raptors. I heard Ford has addressed this issue on the 2nd Gens but not sure.
