Just installed an AFE Alpha raptor in blue. Super easy install. Found it locally on CL for $300. Nice looking and sounding. Added 5star tunes at the same time so I can’t speak of specific increase due to cai.

I recently installed the Roush CAI on my 2017 and am very happy with it. Intakes are fun as long as you're realistic about the expectations. There are minimal (if any) performance gains, and nothing you're going to feel by the seat of your pants. However, the sound is improved, and it's fun hearing the turbos spool up. The Roush intake with a BOV VTA mod will definitely put a smile on your face.

How does an aftermarket CAI help you hear the turbines spool?

Im genuinely curious.

Aren't the turbines spooled through exhaust gas from the 3rd engine stroke?

I have a Whipple CIA on my new ‘19 and you can definitely tell a difference in sound. The turbo spool is very noticeable. In fact, it was installed when I purchased the truck and during the test drive I was surprised as to how noticeable the sound was in cabin. When we returned to the dealership I opened the hood to find the Whipple staring back at me. Nice surprise!

I would personally stick stock with the motorcraft filter as that will filter the best in the desert if you plan to Offroad. Also it’s cheap to replace.

So is a aftermarket CAI just a bling piece that folks are buying for show and get some turbo whine out of them? Looks like these pieces of jewelry are anywhere form 500 to 1K right?
