I think “Front Mount Intercooler” stems from the usage of it. In front of the radiator mounted IC is what we relate to FMIC these days. They generally have larger charge air cooling area as well. They normally don’t have shutters blocking them.

But a stock location IC (CAC) can technically be called a front mounted IC as well. If you have no license plate blocking it or you go further and remove the shutters, it’s fully getting a lot of charge cooling just as well.

I think all the facts are generally mentioned in this thread. Just the terms get scrambled.

I’m 10000000% with here on this one! Hahaha Front mount to me on any car means it’s mounted first before any other coolers. If anything stock location can be considered a ram air cooler. Regardless though it’s a Cobb product and looks top notch

This should solve the people that have a FMIC and coolant overheating issues . They have a 11 min install video . Bullcrap takes me longer to get truck up in air and skidplate off.

My thinking is if it can fit without major mods to truck I'm ok with it. Not doin a full race rig, I'm sure an actual FMIC will benefit those guys. Mostly street time for me means I'll take the gains fwiw.

Just a clarification - Is the new F150 stock location FMIC fit Raptor 3.5?

Also, any word on IC/tuning for the Bronco 2.3/2.7?

It does indeed fit the Raptor, 3.5, and 2.7 F-150s! We have not yet test fit it on a Bronco.

Thanks for checking out the video! This is an F-150 (non-Raptor) in the video so there is no skid plate. We also use those ramps when working on the truck which makes it a lot faster to be able to get under it. If you're installing it on a Raptor (and having to get it on a lift) it will take a little longer. In any case, it's still a really quick and straight forward install.
