I wanted to give a shout out and full endorsement for Goosetuned (@wgr73)! I was running the off the shelf COBB stage 2. Power was pretty good but not as smooth on delivery (especially lower rpms/range) as I was expecting and wanted - non ethanol gas played a role in this too. Boost pressures >23 made me a little skittish too.
I reached out to Winfield after reading here and talking to another Raptor owner and got exactly what I was after and what the truck needed to really wake up. I ran 91 Octane (no ethanol) stage 2 map at first and with Winfield’s guidance I am now on e30 and holy smokes - this truck is a like a flying couch. The process was great, his customer service is outstanding, whether communicating via text or email or phone you always got a quick response to any and every question. I am not sure if and when he sleeps.
The 91 octane map (running Costco 92 octane with 10% ethanol) delivers smooth, reliable power throughout the entire power band. The TCM from COBB makes the transmission much improved and IMHO does not need further refinement. Prior to this map from Winfield I was averaging 13 mph in town driving (heavy foot). After the the map from Goosetuned I was averaging 15 - 16 mpg in town.
The real power came from going e30 (lots of E85 at the pump in my area). I can’t believe how much better these trucks run on ethanol. It is night vs day compared to off the shelf COBB stage 2. I am going to do e30 for a bit and then decide if e50 is the next step. That’s the great part about Goosetuned he can/will create different maps for your fuel source and your truck specifically. I have a stage 2 map for 91 octane, a stage 2 map for e30, and the ability for an e50 map by just reaching out to the guy. This makes it easy when traveling, etc...
