I have a big decision to make next week. I put money down on a CNG conversion to be installed, but I'm having cold feet. The cost will be about the same as a Roush Phase 2 package. My dilemma is should I opt for performance or cost savings? Here are my pro and cons running CNG.
Pros:
$1.69 a gallon
10-CNG filling stations in a ten mile radius from my house.
$5000 stat tax rebate.
Bi-fuel-36 gallon gas and 24 gallon CNG. I could carry a combined 60 gallons. CNG switches to regular gas when tank is empty and vise versa.
Cons:
Tank takes up to 30% of bed space.
Hoses in the grill area eliminate LED light bar mods.
Tank will require some modifications to your inner fenders (performed with a 4# hammer) per Havana for a bed cover to work. He said it was no biggie, but I don't like the idea of my brand new truck getting hammered.
A ton of F150's are running CNG around OK and I haven't heard one complaint from the owners. Aw decisions decisions, just don't want make a mistake. Any feedback would be appreciated!
