Clear Protection for Your Raptor's Skin - I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed

Paint protection film is an effective way of protecting vehicles from road damages such as stone chips, debris, scratches etc.

This thin invisible paint protection is designed to save cars, trucks, vans and other vehicles acting as a clear protector against stone chips and bugs and protecting against day-to-day paint damage.

The non-yellowing film acts as an invisible auto bra that can be waxed and maintained just like paint to help maintain the original shine. Clear car bra films are typically applied to the impact zones on vehicles parts such as hoods, fenders, side mirrors, bumpers, grills, rocker panels, headlights covers, floodlights, car door protection, luggage areas, rear bumper decks, roof and A-pillars creating invisible paint protection.

Has anyone had this film applied to their Raptor? Is anyone planning on doing this?

I know there are pros and cons to using this material. I, for one, have never understood how it's better when it gets nicked or scratched (or if it yellows) and if it's possible to remove it later on with no affect on the painted surfaces underneath it.

The clear bra is a sacrificial layer... it will nick and scratch but when you pull it off the paint underneath is perfect...

Then you can recoat it...

There is place in the city I live in here in Germany that do car cacooning. They take any color vinyl and apply it to your vehicle. either in parts or in whole. They even do clear and flat black. I'm actually thinking of taking the Raptor in and getting the hood done in flat black. http://www.carcocooning.de/ I have actually seen the flat black Mercedes on the site in person and it looks damn good. This stuff doesn't come off easy tho.

In theory these materials can be removed. The key here is how much difficulty is involved in removing it and what's the affect to the underlying paint surface?

Clear bra's are great tools for protecting paint. They will usually last at least 5 years while still looking good. You can wash and wax them just like your paint. All of the newer ones won't yellow like some of the first gen ones. Make sure you have a shop with a good reputation do them and even on black they will be almost invisible to see until you're really up close and see the line. Both of my cars have them and almost everyone I know has them on their cars, I'm surprised a lot of you guys aren't more familiar with them? About 75% of the cars I detail these days have them on the front of them. You can remove them and have the paint underneath be perfect.

i had this put on my truck the day i picked it up, so far its saved the hood from a few chips, one did nick the clear cover, and it must have been a big one because it did chip the paint under it. without it i think i'd have a huge chip of paint missing.
