Avoid the alternator. Believe it or not, Scrubbing Bubbles and a brush makes the engine bay like new. Don’t let it dry.

Use leaf blower (At least 2-3’ away) to dry.

If you can get your hands on sodium hydroxide based cleaner , that works even better. Just remember to skip the alternator and cover fuses. And re-dress all rubber tubing as that chemical will strip rubber of its natural volatile oils.

Anyone here used the Waxoyl engine bay coating? (Interested in any feedback on Waxoyl or their Hardwax as well.)

Never water. Use a leaf blower and leave it alone. You are asking for future troubles.

i wash my engine bay about 3 times a year with a self service pressure washer at the car wash, on several vehicles that Ive owned over the years. ive never had any problems related to washing the engine.. most of the stuff is designed to get wet, so i dont understand your logic. you dont drive in the rain?
