That’s from before the media day when they actually drove the truck. The TRX seems to be overwhelming the better truck from a fit and finish standpoint, power, and even ride. The fuel economy is the killer for many as a DD along with the price point for a 802A equivalent. I’ll keep my Raptor but am definitely envious of the TRX, just couldn’t do the 10 mpg. YMMV

Here is a review of the TRX with many comparisons to the Raptor. I know Jakob from a car club and he’s a gen1 Raptor owner.

The Fuel Economy doesn’t bother me. I only do around 9,000 miles a year. It’s the price tag the kills me. When I option out a TRX like my Raptor it’s $90,000. That’s $16,000 more than what my truck stickered for, and over $20,000 more than what I actually paid for my truck. I love the Hellcat Platform, but I’m not convinced that the drivetrain and slightly nicer interior is worth $20,000 more than my truck.

I have serious doubts as to how easy it will be to modify these things. While I'm sure it would do just fine, within reason, I'll stick with a heavily modified raptor as the main fun-haver.

10mpg on road will mean 5-6ish offroad. How big is the gas tank? I'd be worried about off-road range when you're flogging it.

I really don't like the awd full-time. Furthermore, I'd be VERY interested to take a look at the front CVs to see if they'd even allow extra travel.

I think it's a cool truck for the street, but I wouldn't make room in my stable for it. Every mouthbreather with an inferiority complex will be trying to drag race you.

and fwiw, dropping a 750HP motor into a raptor costs a hell of a lot more than $20K. (i'd have already V8 swapped my truck if it was $20K, in all reality, to pay a pro, it's more than double that.)

oh and Alcantara? ooph. Make good friends with a very talented detailer. One trip into the dirt and it'll never be clean again.

I like that. Some of them have $100k+ to waste and will be driving TRXs. They will be eager to race. Hopefully there won't be too much carnage.

I agree about the MPG’s not bothering me whatsoever.

I don’t think I’d want my truck to be full time AWD though. That would bother me.

$20k is a good chunk of money, but let’s face it, if a $75k Raptor (before mods) is the daily driver, a $90k truck isn’t that out of the realm.

I personally don’t love the RAM interiors like most do, I actually think Ford does a better job in that department.
