The weep hole is NO joke. This is how the 2011 to present ecoboost crowd can escape engine misfire and CELs. Do your research on this. Ford has never fixed this inherent design flaw... not even on the 2017 version.

If its not joke, then maybe it should be. Drilling a hole in your IC to fix misfire and CEL is stupid. I rather deal with the moisture than a leak on boost.

A dual valve catch can and/or a larger IC should essentially fix the same issue, should it not? Larger IC allowing condensation to better evaporate?

We're talking about condensate/oil accumulating on the driver side (engine exit side) and lower inlet tube (where you would tap for the weep hole)

If the DVCC does the same thing, you won't have to worry about any loss of boost (even if the marginal/small CFM number doesn't allow you to sleep at night)

It is not - do your research on this. It has been the tried and true fix for all 3.5 ecoboosts... the transverse guys do it now too since it was such a bad problem. There are years of testing data showing this is fine... and solves the problem.

The catch can does not solve this issue. It helps prevent oil from getting to intercooler, but does not fix the condensate problem. These are two completely separate problems. The weep hole handles evacuating the moisture buildup out.

Are we talking about condensation or oil? Different problems. Either way, drilling a hole in your IC... wow, what a shit solution, but go for it, your motor. I rather hold Ford to the fire and have them fix it.

Oil in the intercooler- catch can is solution
Condensate- weep hole in the intercooler.

Both are tried and true solutions for 6yrs now. Do your research on the ecoboost weep hole... it is FINE.

Condensation will build up inside intercooler when driven in rain for long periods. Then when you boost it hard the slug of water goes into the engine . Pistons and connecting rods start get severely damaged. I have a 14 Tremor. Catch can is to keep oil build up from valves on direct injection only engines. Dual injection can is not needed.
