Well all, awhile back I had a bad experiance with an oil change center. Well I have just had the oil changes after my Arkansas Road trip and I decided to look for new service shop. I don't do dealer oil changes. I had stopped by a close by Jiffy Lube and asked about their service and what products they use. The place was as clean as a service shop can be. Just really clean!

The manager told me they do not use my brand oil. Not to stir the pot or change this to an oil thread I use Mobil One. Have for 20 years. So the manager, Todd said just go buy what I want and they will do the work for $20.00. HUH? He said, Labor on a basic oil and filter is $20. Cool!

So off to Wally World to buy my two 5 qt jugs for a cost of $54 out the door. Basically $5.00 a qt before tax. Then I went and bought my $4.00 820 S filter at Auto Zone next door to the oil place. The Jiffy Lube was dead after the two cars that they had in there were moved out. I explained to them that I want NO MESS, Pull the Skid Plate Panel and do it right. NO MESS PLEASE.

They did the work and did a nice job of it. Even cleaned up the remains from the last oil change at the other place I use to go. I wet to pay and Todd tagged my new account with a permanent 15% off tag and with tax and all charged me $19.95. COOL!

So I paid $60 for a Mobil One oil change. Use to cost me between $85 and $90 depending on the day. So I guess I am happy for now till my drain plug falls out or something else! AHhahaaaa.

Awesome! Do you have no desire to do it yourself? I had a bad experience with my first oil change and swore I'd be doing them myself from then on out. 85-90 for a change definitely seems high. Seems like you found a great shop!

I usually take mine to the dealer with my own oil and filter. Thats if I don't have time to do it myself. Sounds pretty good on price.

If you sign on to the Ford Owner's website, they've got a coupon for a Full Synthetic Oil Change+Tire Rotation for $79.99 right now.

I'm going to give that a try with the dealer near me next month, hopefully all goes well.

I always take mine to the dealer now, really. I used to have the time to go out there and do it, toss it on a lift, rotate my own tires and shit like that and I LOVE doing that kinda stuff -- just no time.

You can't really beat the dealer, either, around here. They do it right, they pull off the skid-plate, clean it up underneath and all that good shit and rotate my tires at the same time the way I want them rotated all for $49.99.

I guess not all Jiffy Lubes have the same inventory as the Jiffy Lube I use does carry and use Mobil 1.

I do it myself. Overtorqued drain plugs and oil filters are thereby permanently avoided.

I do my own tire rotations, too. It takes two floor jacks to do it and I can't do it in the garage because the truck is so big, but by golly I can do a tire rotation and know that the lug nuts are torqued to spec faster than a shop can do it.

I have NEVER had very good luck around here with dealers for Ford, Chevy Jeep or any motorcycles I have owned. I DO NOT let a Motorcycle shop do anything to a bike out of warranty. Anthing I do on one of my bikes I do because its my fat ass at speed on it and I want it right! A car or truck is a little different. Still, the dealers I have used seem to use oil and tire service as a means to get you for something else while there.

The dealer I bought my truck from, North Central Ford in Richardson, did the warranty stuff as far as "the Clunk" just fine. The service writer seems to know what he is doing. I mentioned all the paint issues though and was told to take it to a dodge or caddilac dealer across town, the shop they use as their body shop. *********! Needless to say I have not done anything there. The shop in back however is another story. I had a recall on the lug nutts done there on my FX4 once. I watch the kids pull the center caps and throw them face down on the concrete and pile the lug nutts into them as if they are a storge cup. Scratched the shit out of them! I got a new set thank you very much! I had them do an oil change years ago and all I got was a filter. They never changed the oil. They say they did but it was so nasty and black there was no freaking way they drained it. I ******* and they did it again. Sighhhhhhhhhhh!

Did a service on the c5 vett when it was new and that dealer didn't put in mobil one as I paid for. How did I know? I watched the guy pump standard dino oil in from the overhead system which DOES NOT dispence Mobil One. I asked the service guy and he said, all Mobil One oil is in qts there, not in the service tanks. SOoooooooo they did it again. Just not fond of oil changes at dealers when ya can't watch. Now if they let ya watch I would possibly give them a shot.

I don't mind doing my own oil but dumping the used oil into something to dispose of it is a pain. Also I am so damn outa shape I feel like I have been beat after rolling around on the ground for a half hour! HAhahaaaaa.
