Saved this pic from somewhere...it shows Alpine's 8" NAV using the Perfect FIT in the F-150...However it is on a Column shift f150 it will look a little different then our center flow through SVT Raptors. None the less you should get an idea..

the alpine is definitley the most expensive and the best fit. however, everything is prewired for the alpine units, so any other radio will take some additional wiring. i have to check with my scosche and metra reps regarding fit for the raptor.

Fred- in my opinion, i prefer the sound quality of an alpine, but prefer the nav of a pioneer. i have never been a fan of alpine navs. but they do have better sound quality. that being said, the difference in sound quality between the alpine and pioneer is smaller than the difference in nav ease of use between the 2. pioneer has much better functions with the nav, but a little less sound quality. thats why i went with a pioneer. i have the avic z140bh.
im not saying that alpine sucks, its completely opposite, they are vey good. i just prefer to use a nav thats easier for me. i would go to a shop and check out both the alpine and pioneer navs and see which one works better for you. you cant o wrong either way.

Thanks for the review. I had a Pioneer in my Excursion and like it.

I will test drive both units. The Alpine caught my eye due to the 8" head unit and it appears Alpine is trying to make a plug and play with the sync. Which I am not the biggest fan of sync.

Thanks again. I will test drive both.

Die you have any concern about the new 8" Alpine since it has been out less than a month?

i have not had any time to play with one. our alpine rep came down with a display unit, however it was promised to another shop, so i have had about 5 min experience with the unit. the first model is alwas going to have some imperfections. the second gen will be better. but if you are the type that needs it now, i dont see a problem with getting it. just make sure its what you really want

if the backup camera is on the dash screen you need to interface it with the new radio. the only way to get the camera to the mirror is by going to ford and spending a bucketload of money. new morror, new wire harness, expensive labor........ if it is even possible to do it.
but to interface the rear camera is possible. the front camera is the pain in the ass because its all data signals.
