Dang it!! I went and drove a Raptor today. Took it out on the road, freeway, and off-road in a fairly flat bit of desert/large vacant lot. What a machine. Wonderful feel, wonderful sound, wonderful everything. Not even close to as fast as the CTS-V (0-60 in 3.9 seconds) but more personality than 5 of them put together. The only thing that took me aback and made me laugh out loud was my MPG listed in the LCD above the steering column - 6.4 !! I think some Winnebagos get better mileage? But I had a smile on my face the entire drive and I had my foot in it the whole time too. My question to you Raptor owners is how do you not put you foot into it the entire time behind the wheel? I'm going to drive the Caddy again just to make sure but I think I know what the decision will be.

John

a funny thing hapens, as my wallet gets lighter...so does my right foot :D

Oh thank god, I thought you were going to buy him a Raptor and not yourself when I first started reading your post. We have two at the local high school. I can't believe someone would buy there kid a $50,000 truck to drive to school in. Heck my first car my dad bought me was an old beater that I had to work on all the time. At least that old car taught me how to work on a car and responsibility.

Lol my first wheels was a 78 Pacer. Brown, with fake wood side paneling.

Yeah, that old beater was a 64 Ford Galaxy 500(old retired police car) it had the 390 Thunderbird motor in it. It was originally bought at a city auction for another guys son who drove it back and forth to school than my dad bought it for me. It was out in his pasture when we picked it up.

my first car taught me how to drive without power steering, brakes or headlights when it used to stall out going down a hill. i think every kid needs a beater to learn the value of a vehicle.

Agreed. My first vehicle was a 1983 1/2 Nissan 4x4. the "1/2" was when Datsun transitioned to Nissan in the U.S. I beat the **** out of that truck... 2 clutches, a head gasket, a transmission, and endless smaller items... in roughly 20k miles. I sunk it up to the hood in the 1994 floods out here in CA. My next door neighbor helped tow it home. The air cleaner looked like one of those above ground pools. The carb was actually submerged in water. I hooked up the jumper cables to my mom's minivan and turned it over until all the water worked its way out. It ran like a champ... even after all that. I traded it on my first Mustang not long after that. Some long lost pics of that truck (and my first Mustang) just surfaced this evening while my wife was cleaning the house. Good times!

welcome Leva. Your Son should dig the Tacoma, they're solid trucks... and I'm sure Papa is gonna LOVE the Raptor when he decides to pull the trigger!!

No, the kid's been driving gmc Sierra with 160000 miles on it and now he will move on to a Tacoma with 112000 miles.

I am officially looking for my Raptor. I drove the Caddy again and the CTS-V is nice and very fast but . . . . . . .
