Just installed my shifter, truly a 5 minute job.
I used a plastic putty knife to lower shifter boot. Small phillips screw driver. Looks great!

This is THE thread that made me register! Just wanted to thank all that shared in this thread with info and pics about the CF parts. This is my 2016 XLT 302a pkg with the CF shifter and trim panel above the glove box...

again, sincere thanks for all the info!

Looks great Boostedgreygoose!

How does the panel install? Is it just an overlay or do you have to disamble some of the dash?

I can imagine the sliding door piece requires a bit of center console
work to get to it.

Was able to change out the shifter knob today. It only took 5 minutes!
1: I put the truck in Drive. Then set parking brake.
Shut truck off.
2 Pulled the boot up toward the shifter and using my left thumb nail pushed in on the clip below top ring on boot and used my right hand and pushed it down at the same time, on the left side of shifter. It slide down about a 1/8",
3 Then did the same on the right side until the boot was free from knob.
4 With the shifter in drive and stubby Phipps screw driver removed the two screws on the front of the knob, knob is is now free, then used a long slim straight screw driver to release the wiring clip. Pulled old knob off.
5 Then installed the CF knob! Checked that everything worked before pulling the boot back up over clips!
Took longer to write this up than to change it out!

Is there a video of this please. I’ve been trying this for an hour and I’m getting annoyed. Thank you for helping.

I can’t get the boot off. Tried prying the ring and then trying to find the clip to press but it was really tough.

Look at the new knob and see where the clips are at. Then use your thumb nail and push in and a trim removal tool to pry down on side then the other. The clips are right up at the very top, one on the tow button side and one on the other.

Thank you very much. I will give it another shot. One question - my original shifter has a T/S on the shifter. It stands for Tow/Sport mode. Mine is a Platinum not the Raptor. Wondering if the shifter I bought (only shown Tow) would retains both modes.
