FYI, I believe the middle seat belt is not an airbag belt, so that might be the best place to put your kid.

Also kids under a certain age/size shouldn’t be in a seat with a side airbag. Not sure if gen 2 backs seats have those. They are in the middle row but not the back of my explorer.

My wife and I use Britax and Diono. We started with Diono, but upgraded the older boy to Britax once the wife got her new Explorer, because Diono wasn't seatbelt airbag certified (at the time, they are now).

The Britax are easier to work with, because you can adjust the strap height without having to remove the entire car seat. And our older son (almost six years old) is able to buckle himself with the Britax, whereas we had to put him in with the Dionos. We will be upgrading the younger one to Britax in the next year.

Both are perfectly safe for inflatable belts though.

**EDIT: It's also worth noting my wife researched the absolute f*ck out of car seats, so it certainly wasn't a fleeting decision. **

Yeah going to grab two Britax for the truck. Was looking at Diono but the Britax just looks easier and tons of reviews on them.

We like the Graco extend2fit 4ever. One of the highest rear facing weights and when the time comes the front facing booster is Ford inflatable belt approved.

I have the Britax Pinnacle Clicktight in both my wife’s 2018 Explorer and my Raptor. Very easy to install and it’s comfortable for our son. Highly recommend it.

We run the Nuna Rava forward facing with the anchor points in my 2018 and it’s perfect fit wise. It’s a really great seat IMO

Yeah I had it switch to the latch points FF and it’s tight with no wiggle. Wife was amazed with the room.

Just keep in mind that the latch system is only rated for 65lbs total load. That's car seat + child weight.

Once my older son hit 40lbs we had to switch from latch to belt. Belt is looser, but more secure in a crash at higher weights.

Bringing this thread back from a bit ago to get some current opinions and suggestions.

Son is due in December and looking for a system that I can swap between her Camry and my '19 via bases. Additionally looking at it snapping into a stroller for a complete system.

Lots of options out there, it's pretty difficult to navigate it all at times. Will need seat protectors as well for the bases in both vehicles.

The only condition is the wife is stating she wants a carrier that is lightweight as she's not the strongest or largest woman and mentioned it being somewhat difficult to haul the grocery basket around the store while currently pregnant.

Thanks for any suggestions.
