Yes I'm positive. In attached pic notice the cable is only on one side of the clamp. It's the wire side that must take priority when attaching to post.

Um, yeah. Ever seen the movie Idiocracy? Now, before I punch myself in the nuts, as promised, I need to try it again. But you are 100% correct on the cable only being on one side.

Now here's my attempt at an excuse: I guess on every car I've ever jumped, both sides of the clamp hit a post so I never even realized the implications of there being a cable side and it not touching a post. I do recall it being challenging to even get the clamp to bite, so I'll bet the cable side was on plastic and the non-cable side on the post.
