Can't charge my phone?

This past weekend while camping I realized that I can't charge my phone via USB while the truck is parked without the engine running. Is this true or is there another port which stays powered?

What about the round 12v accessory (cigarette lighter) port?

After the recent Sync update, my system has been wonky. I’ve had to Master Reset it twice now to get the XM and GPS antennas to work. Before the update, it worked flawlessly.

I cant believe this isn't an issue for most people.

Pretty sure Ford went to key powered only ports a few years ago. My wife’s Tahoe is the same way.

I have never been able to charge my phone via any of the USB/12v, etc., ports when the key is off. I have a 2017 with most recent SYNC 3 update.
