The gears skipping are normal. That is how the transmission is designed.

yes, gears skipping in normal mode is how factory programs it. makes it smoother for the 'mall crawlers' :driver:

the harsh shift from park i've experienced more often than I'd like.. Feels like shiite when it does happen. It will happen more when you rev it, and even wait 1 minute, then shift into drive, but will do it all by itself sometimes.

Hopefully this will go away as I now have the tune from JDM and at least the skipping of gears is gone and have not felt the lurching getting into drive so far. This tune's learning seems to be better so far ( only had it a week now, and maybe 120-150 miles ) as well.

I had the hard shift from Park/Reverse going in to Drive also. That’s when they changed the control valve because of sticking valves. Haven’t had a problem since with any type of hard shifts.

So they actually went into it and changed the valve? I had the reflash earlier this year and seemed to be a bit better.
Valve sticking makes sense..

also, anyone experience it lagging when changing from R to Drive or more from D from R ? Like a serious lag.. never had this happen for an auto trans.

The delay between drive and reverse is ridiculous actually backed in to a wall because of it.

Did some testing after I got to work and the truck would shudder like it engaged then would roll 10-20 feet.

So this is what is happening with mine. Say I come to a sudden or quick stop, the trans will remain in 3rd or 4th gear and wont shift to 1st even though im stopped. If I step on the gas it reminds of dragging the clutch on a manual trans. It will move forward but like the clutch is slipping and has no power. It wont shift back to 1st until I put it in manual shift mode and shift with the paddles. And of course it will never do it when I take it to the dealer, so they think im crazy

did you already do the flash update?
But that actually does sound more like valve problem then a program glitch. But, also could very well be the programming. Tough one, as it doesn't happen when at the doctor..but if you can, record on your phone or even better, dash cam.. that would at least give some level of evidence to them.
