"Can" on exhaust pipe

Does anyone know what this "can" is on the exhaust and what it does? Does it help "tune" the exhaust note? Part of what the stereo helps simulate? Just noticed it on my 2018 while washing it.

Called a Resonator. See it alot on 4 stroke MX Dirt bikes. Like one guy said before. It's to settle down the acoustical vibrations from the exhaust sound
