I'm going to replace your 'cooler' (which I assume to mean ice box) with a 12 volt Engel cooler.

Reason being?
Personal experience with 3 day+ camping trips. It's easier to get to your location (often times for us this involves a good hour on a trail or back road), set up and forget about everything.

I made a folding book style solar array from 40 watt panels that I unfold once we arrive. Sit it near the cooler (which is placed in shade of course) and forget about it. I don't have to worry about ice melting and draining the cooler every few hours. Or I can run the fridge off the spare deep cycle aux battery I have installed for 5 days straight in 70+F weather and not worry about it killing the battery.


At least that was my justification to the wife why I had to spend 700$
