GEN 2 Cam Phaser Repair, Good or No Good?

My 2019 with 25k sounds like it may be beginning the “rattling” upon start up. Build date (according to window sticker) is 4/4/2019. I also have an occasional slight oil smell ( no visible leaks). Is this the beginning of the dreaded cam phaser issue

I was hoping not to be effected but turns out at 40k I am getting the dreaded cold start rattle. I’ve done every oil change myself at 3k intervals with amsoil synthetic, no start stop.

It has. I’ve been through the threads. With some miles on the revised parts I want to see who’s had it again.

You shouldn’t see any. They redesigned the phaser to eliminate the failure mode.

Had it done on a 2018 Expedition 20,000 or so miles ago no issues.

I had My 2019 done 30000 miles ago and it has been quiet since. This was the 2nd to last revision of the fix.

You shouldn’t see any. They redesigned the phaser to eliminate the failure mode.

Yeah, haven’t seen many 2020’s in for it, nor anyone with later repairs. Hope the valve covers go well and I’m back in business

Ford replaced my Cam Phasers about a week ago. (43K on 2018) Now at idle sometimes RPM drops to <500, the truck shakes, then idle resumes normal RPM.. Waiting for another appointment to get into Ford Service department. It took 1 week to get the Cam Phasers replaced the 1st time.....it wasn't a good experience with the Ford Service Dept.....
