California ESP - Extended warranty

Might by able to bypass this by registering in South Dakota or Vermont as an out of state resident. I plan to do that when my $1000 california registration goes up for renewal in a year… zeigler asks what state the vehicle is “registered” in when signing up. No way this law is legal or enforceable… unless the warranty company can do some digging themselves to deny you coverage

I have property in South Dakota and register everything up there. SD doesn't care where you live. For them registration is just a revenue issue. I'm in between SD and CO about every 2 weeks. If I registered my Raptor in CO it would cost me around $8k more at purchase and $1200 more per year.

As a side note...I really enjoyed my time in CA when I was at Camp Pendleton. Now I'm afraid to go into CA because I understand it's now legal to execute Conservatives upon capture.

Thanks Ford and I am sure the ford dealers that lobbied to pass this F U law to CA residents. Ford can’t figure out how to rid the world of bs adm but can figure out how to block their customers from buying reasonably priced esp plans.

Not 100% sure but I think it's this one.

• SB 1040, authored by Senator Susan Rubio, authorizes the Insurance Commissioner to order restitution from persons who sell insurance without the necessary license from the Department of Insurance, including “extended vehicle warranties” sold illegally through robocalls and misappropriation of consumers’ and businesses’ premiums, among other insurance scams. https://www.insurance.ca.gov/0400-news/0100-press-releases/2022/release089-2022.cfm

I read somewhere that only licensed California dealers are now authorized to sell extended warranties. I am going to visit my local dealers to see what I can get from them.

This is fairly new so hopefully, someone can find workarounds, or maybe an honest dealer in California can step up and do what Granger, Zeigler, and the others were doing for customers. But I will not hold my breath.

What about car brokers they possess dealer license???

Even though I can understand CA trying to protect people from scams and other fraudulent ways of collecting consumers information, I have a hard time understanding how it’d apply to someone voluntarily contacting a legit business to purchase a manufacturer backed product/service.
Now that I’ve said that without even reading the text, I’ll go through the bill.

I'm registered in CA , when I bought my truck before the cut off date I had my dealer match ziegler. maybe you should call the dealer you purchased your truck from and have them match it
