Buying out of state

A 7yr 100k mile warranty shouldn't be anywhere near that. I paid $900 for 7yr 84k with a $100 deductible. I had Flood Ford pulled up before I even went in to the finance office and theirs was around $1100 for the same terms if I remember so my dealer beat it by a bit for me.

Can I buy the warranty from any ford dealership? The 4K includes the service warranty as well, so I guess I’ll call flood ford don’t know where that is and talk to them. I would rather buy local but Galpin and others around me want crazy marks ups like 20-25 k. I usually don’t go for the extended warranties but I’ve heard som stories and just want to be covered.

A little known fact is that if you own the truck for 90 days or more prior to registering In Calif. You don't pay sales tax. But you must own it for 90 days first. Then register it filling out a form for DMV ca stating you owned it for 90 days or more prior to importing it in to Ca. All Raptors are 50 state smog certified.

Im about to pull the trigger on buying a new Raptor from an out of state ( Virginia)dealership and shipping to California. I asked about smog and he said it’s all good for California, just wondering if there is anything I should be asking or looking out for when the truck arrives. It’s my first time buying out of state and not sure if there is a process I have to go through when the truck arrives.

No problems on buying out of state. All raptors 2018 and newer are CA emissions friendly. Should be a sticker under the hood. No need to state on sticker. Before you register, must get smog done and get inspection at local dmv. Simple but extra step. Be prepared to pay extra weight tax for use in Ca. Good luck!

I believe this is incorrect. If memory serves, you need to own and keep cAr out of state for at least 1 yr now.

I checked the window sticker and it says California emissions - no charge. They are trying to sell me on the extended warranty which I was expecting, his final price was 4K for for extended warranty and service warranty for 7 years or 100k miles and 100% is covered, anyone with experience with them or should I pass?

You don’t need to haggle with them on the extended warranty or even buy it from them. The Extended warranty prices are set by ford and are available to the public. Google Ford Premium Care and on the website you can pick the warranty that you like (mileage, years, deductible) and it will give you a price. You can buy it anytime during the original manufacturer warranty. You can buy it right there on the website.

I just went through this here in washington state and even though we are abolishing emissions, if you buy a new car out of state (meaning it has less than 7500 miles on it), you have to buy a vehicle that has the CARB sticker under the hood! This number is recorded at the DOL and is the only way you can pay sales tax and therefore, register it for tags.

The Ca vehicle licensing office will also state this on their website under vessel and vehicle registration requirements.

The window sticker (if vin matching) will indeed show its Cal certified— If it doesn’t, pass!

Lastly, all car manufacturers, after late 2000s I believe, adopted strict emissions that allow you to pass emissions and therefore, be used in your state. That said, this does NOT apply to any new vehicle that was allocated to a state that downs not require the carb verified vehicles.
