Buying a high mileage raptor

What’s up everyone. I had a 2012 Ford raptor a few years ago that got totaled out. I am able to buy a 2014 raptor with 150k miles for 28k or a 2011 with 120k miles for 29. I was wondering if it’s even smart to buy a raptor with that high of mileage and if I should just go for the 11. Both are loaded, both crew cabs. The 14 is the dark maroon red and the 11 is white. Are there even any significant differences between the years??

Welcome to the place. Biggest differences are the 14 comes with better headlights and updated electronics and interior features, like cooled seats, 115 inverter, etc. Do you need all that, idk, I have a 2010 with 151,000 miles and it runs like a top btw, it's all about the maintenance or lack of it. Are you buying form a dealer? Warranty?

Thanks for the reply man. I don’t necessarily need all of that, the 12 has 4 previous owners and one minor accident. Inspection report it’s in great shape. The 14 has 155k miles i believe and one owner. Both seem well maintained and from a dealer. I just heard of some engine issues with the 11 which doesn’t make sense to me since they’re the same engine. But both of them are about the same price

ya it really comes down to how they were maintained. I personally like the idea of a single owner vehicle in most cases as the history of maintenance is easier to track down and the fact its been in less hands. Now if he didnt care about it thats a different story, but you can tell if someone actually cared.

I think the 14 is the better choice despite the mileage as the upgrades arent things you cant just add to an 11' (other than the HID headlights). I have a 13' with 160k miles btw.

I bought a '14 with 147k on it for $30k in April. One **** retentive owner(who I knew) before me. I have zero regrets. I've gotten several buddies into 2011s and 12s now and i personally much prefer some of the touches my '14 has. I've been in it a lot this year and just hit 183k miles. Just ordered a valve spring kit from Cody Dawson to hopefully keep any issues at bay. These seem to be great engines.
I'd personally go with the one owner '14 and stay on top of your maintenance.

Awesome i appreciate the rely. Everyone’s trying to talk me out of it. But they seem to be pretty solid trucks. I hope it works out and if not I’ll just save for a different one i suppose lol

Seems like it comes down to how well optioned either one is and which options fit you better. The '14 is the last of the V8 trucks. Is it a special edition? The 14 SE's have digital cammo graphics and a few other things

Welcome! A lot of issues arise from age and poor maintenance versus milage. More so poor maintenance - Raptors appear to age nicer than other vehicles. I'd go for the newer one with the one owner versus the other. Unless that one owner took bad care of it, obviously.

Do take your time. Documented owners and the maintenance performed in high mileage vehicles are probably most important. If the price is right and it has what you want then consider it. If it seems like you have to ask questions over and over and second guess it. Move on and look for others to buy. There will be more!
