Accident / Bad News / Good News:
I just had my Raptor for a few months now, simply love it...each week, adding more and more to this beauty. Previously owned a Honda Civic Hybrid, quite a difference.
Today I had a minor accident. I didn't stop in time at a green light when the car in front stopped suddenly, crash. I felt horrible. Especially since I also had it hand washed and waxed earlier today. I expected the worse when I got out of the truck. The gentleman I hit was congenial, and we shared insurance, etc.
Surprisingly, the damage was limited to each of our bumpers. The plastic and some metal was bent on my precious, but missed higher metal by a fraction of an inch. Only the bumper needs to be replaced.
A slight tangent here, but on my to-do list was to include fog lights and possibly a winch. I was not happy with the currently selection of fog lights out there, and had contemplated a winch for only a future install.
So some good news. My insurance company will allow an estimate on the damage, and at my request, will issue a check to cover the cost. Albeit, I may face a future increase in my insurance premium. BTW, first accident in about 25 years. However, the opportunity to buy an improved bumper, with different fog lights and winch is now very available.
So my friends, I'd like to request some advice on choices. There are several replacement front bumpers out there. Some are conservative, and others are extreme off-road. I prefer conservative that blend into the design, but perhaps include increased skid plate with nice LED lights, winch is optional but desired. I've seen a few I like, but the reviews are old.
Please let me know if you suggest any current designs. I prefer steel over aluminum/plastic and price is minor considering this is the only vehicle I want to own.
