Bump stop issue

Thank you for the info it's a big help. One last thing, could I install a block like an inch and a half and not have to mess with anything else. I know lifting the body can cause weird angles and vibrations ect.

You want the distance between your bump and axle to always be less than the distance of your shocks travel. It’s not best to have the shock potentially “bottom out” leave that to the cheaper Air shock.
You could add a 1” block but wouldn’t recommend more than that. If you just are looking to level out the truck and do t do crazy off-roading/jumping you will be fine.

though I’m sure someone will chime in now and tell you I’m all wrong and to never add a block to the rear...

What are you trying to gain by adding a lift block? You had one, it was removed for those aftermarket leaf springs - I assume Deavers, but I'm not sure.

Definitely aftermarket leaf springs.

Are those bump stops in any way adjustable? I can't see the whole setup in your pictures, but mine have multiple bolts and holes that let me set the height on the housing holding the bumps. If I set them low enough to make frequent contact it's really annoying and concerning - so I know the sound you are talking about. I just measured mine, and I have 4.5 inches before initial contact with my bump stop.

This is the design trade off in that yes you can adjust yours but it “could” slip under heavy load, and the mount added pressure to the shock body trying to keep it in place. Ours you have no chance of it moving but that also means, you can’t move them lol unless you threw a shim up on top but that’s about it...

I thought maybe adding a 1-in block or 1 1/2-in block would give it more travel to come in contact with the bump stop. I've never added blocks to anything so I am not familiar with that territory at all. And no deavers on this truck, which I'm assuming are leaf helpers correct?

Mine can't move unless they shear a few extremely large grade eight bolts. There's no way. It isn't my bumps that move, but my housings containing the bump stops.

Anyway, yeah, if OP's aren't adjustable that sucks. I just wasn't sure based on the picture. That constant impact on the bumps would drive me crazy. Only solution I can see is to switch them out, and that's not a small thing.

Well the impact isn't constant like I said it takes a little bit for that contact to occur. And it's beginning to sound like this is a common issue for anything with aftermarket bump stops. I guess a simple solution might be to take it somewhere and adjust the nitrogen or air so they are somewhat softer. not terribly soft I need for them to be effective if need be.

I see what you are saying. You want to put a block directly under the leaf springs, but not raise up your bump pad. I can't tell if you can physically get away with that with your kit. I can't say either way if that is a good idea, so I'll bow out of that part.

Deavers are full replacement leaf springs. The stock ones only had like three or four springs if I recall. There are other brands as well, but you are obviously not stock. Stock would also have a lift block under the springs.

I'm considering a different stop altogether. Something with a shorter travel. I never intend on jumping this thing but do Hit the occasional field at families property.
