And personally I'd want a lot of that stuff locked inside a cab, and not in the bed, save for fuel and tires. Fuel wise tho the supercrew should be GTG without many/any additional cans. Hard to find 36 gal+ factory capacity outside of pickups in the USA.

36 gallons is nothing. Figure an average of 6mpg in a true off-road overlanding situation, that's only 216 miles to empty. Now factor in leaving the truck running/idling while clearing debris, getting un-stuck,etc. I'd want at least 50 gallons.

anybody use these ? Smittybilt Overlander Off-Road Trailer Camper Gets You In The Backcountry
they seem like a good idea and can hold alot of extra pounds. the 35s and suspension seem sold off raod capable.
those tough trailers seem like a good prepper option

I haven't actually used one but I've been looong at them closely and considering. The Smitty looks like a great intro model with a fair price point.

These are a bit more elaborate but you are definitely paying for the extras.

I originally had plans for an LC200 build and a SoCalTeardrops.com offroad version but the Raptor tows my other junk (24' enclosed aluminum + racecar) so much better.

Since the Raptor won't fit anywhere, anyway ;) I went with a slightly bigger teardrop -- Summit from Coloradoteardrops.com.

Lots of places to do dispersed camping + offroad driving in CA that I'm looking forward to exploring.

I spent a few months considering the SoCal 459 Krawler and ended up renting one for the weekend through Off the Grid rentals. It got super hot during the day (80 and sunny) and had condensation all over the walls at night (50s); all in all, didn't seem to provide enough upside to be worth the price.

As far as trailers go, has anyone heard anything good or bad about the Schutt XV3?

Summit looks nice BTW!

Interesting. I hadn't read those complaints on condensation before -- I assume big fan was running?

The Summit looks to have way more insulation than the Socal units. Hopefully it won't heat up like that and cause condensation.

I think the Expedition Overland guys did a bunch of trips (Return to the Mackenzie?) with the XV3? they seemed to like it a lot on their show.

Fan was running - side walls just lacked sufficient insulation (roof was fine)

I am thinking of doing this in the near future. Overland is just another way of saying adventure in a vehicle, so my son and I going into a place like UWharrie and camping for the night is overlanding to me. Would be a blast.

I'm considering doing the same. Just looking around for quality manufacturers. I'm very picky about what I'm going to put on a $70k truck.

Forgive me, but that made me snicker. I am picky too, but for some reason when someone else said it I realized I was saying I was being picky about what goes on the truck, and then i am going to go drive it into areas that almost certainly will cause damage at some point.. lol.
