Chatted with Matt from FP yesterday and asked why RubyR isn't on the configurator. He said because it just barely came up and they are still tweaking it as RubyR is definitely listed in the order guide. I posted this in another thread (someone else clued me in). But take the configurator with a grain of salt.
First, as a owner of a '17 RR, I hope your wrong. I think it would be awesome to have Ruby Red only available on the last year of the Gen1 and the 1st year of the Gen2.
That said, I agree that the configurator is usually plagued with inaccuracies when they first launch it, but that has always been limited to:
Misspellings
Grammar errors
Package options not assigning the equipment properly
Image representation not accurate
I've never seen them completely omit a color. Especially one that was available the previous model year and is still in the system for other trim levels.
I don't always trust the order guide either. The 2017 order guide did not list the interior accent package as available with Lightning Blue, but the configurator did. Order guides often are put together before the trucks color and options are finalized. They usually have more than one revision during the MY. While I know there are people that have ordered RR '18s, but until I see one, I'm still skeptical. There is nothing that says Ford can't come back and say "Sorry not doing Ruby Red, pick a different color." As for the guy that said he saw one at the factory, they built a Race Red '17 and even sent it around to dealers/shows but you couldn't get one in that color in '17. Besides, pics or it didn't happen.
