I wonder if he just didn't see the wrong way sign. Either way I suspect it was a bumpy ride. If I had to guess I'd say he/she went off the road in a traffic accident at high speed. Mud is from the ditch filled with guck and rocks.

I've seen many many vehicles end up In a ditch with disintegrated wheels due to the freeway speeds and a sudden stop against something harder than steel or equivalent.

My bet is it came off a Trophy Truck since it has what looks like a 6x5.5 bolt pattern. Plus there's a Brunnhoelzl jack in the back ground, mostly TT and Class 1's use those jacks since they run $800-1500

But for the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would run a cheap ass cast wheel on a TT or Class 1.

I've seen methods like that before. BJ was sitting on the hood of his truck holding a lime green center just like that during the Mint this year.
