So I had removed the front diff, cv's, and front driveshaft a while ago.
I spoke to brenthel about their 2wd uprights, they warned me that they'd never tried the 2wd kit on a 6.2l f150, or modelled it on the computer.
I figured I could fix up any problems easily enough and ordered them.
The advantage to them is that they move the centerline of the wheel even with the lca, so you get a higher ride height with less spring rate and preload.
2wd on the drivers side and 4wd on the passenger side, illustrating the ground clearance difference.
They arrived and I got started, the caliper brackets needed to be clearanced, and the caliper mounting tabs needed the holes enlarged. Apparently the 2wd f150's have smaller brakes.
The outer tie rod mounting points on the 2wd uprights are lower than on the 4wd uprights, I presume the 2wd electric racks are mounted lower than the 6.2's hydraulic rack. This gave some pretty wild bump steer.
Took some roll center measurements and came up with 30mm as the amount the rack needed to move down.
Moving the mounting points up on the uprights was going to be tricky, so a friend milled out some new heim joint/steering rack adapters out of chromoly.
Thought this might be a bit sketchy, but I just noticed today that the mazulla 2wd long travel kit uses exactly the same thing.
I tack welded them as well as bolting them to ensure they don't reclock themselves on the rack's output shaft.
Bump steer was almost completely gone, just a tiny bit of toe out on full compression.
Was able to take 3" of preload out of the coils, and still end up with a higher ride height.
