Botec's with Advanced Fiberglass Concepts liners install

Ok,
finally getting around to writing this post. It was recommended to me to do this combo by more than one person, and it worked out great. I had done a bunch of searches but came up with nothing on what the liners looked like or how they would attach to the truck. In the end, it was pretty simple, but its always nice to have an idea before you start a project.

There are a bunch of videos and posts on the fender install, so i wont go to much into that. They fit pretty good, but def aren't plug and play. Expect fitting and finish work to get a surface ready to paint or wrap.



I used the blue masking tape and then gorilla tape to protect the factory paint. It works good, but it is harder to judge where the body and door line is, so thats a downside. Also, the headlight area isn't perfect. took some work to get the headlights and whatnot all mounted and fit the way i wanted.




these two things will be your friend for installing the liners. Not sure how they fit with the Advanced Fiberglass fenders, im sure it would be better, but they fit pretty good with the botecs. just a little trimming for me on the outer edge of each liner.

here is what i had to cut of of the liners to get them to fit. with the cut off wheel, this was super easy



oh, before i get to far into this. You will need to cut and beat back the seam in the wheel well. I had already done some of that when i put the 37's on years ago, but needed to do a better job so i could get the liners as high as i could



try and get that as tight and flush as you can as it will help get the liner in tighter

Once you get done with the fitting, the self tapping screw will be your friend. I put two in the front and another 4 along the frame. Kinda line it up and push it up as far as it will go and secure it with the screws

You can actually take off the fenders and have the liners sitting there, so here is some pics like that

I wanted it to be neat and not have a bunch of wires tied up, so i drilled the liners to mount the wire keepers like they were on the factory liners. kind a PITA, but not too bad. you can eyeball the spacing pretty easy after the first one. came out pretty good




after i got all of that fitted, i pulled them off and sprayed them with some 3M rubberized undercoating. I called the local linex dealer to do these and the rear wheel wells, but they wouldn't do it, so it was on to plan B

since i was blacking out the liners, i figured i would hit the front wheel wells as well. The area where i had beat back the seam years ago was showing, so first i painted it, then the undercoating. Then reinstalled the fender and liner.

Then it was off to have it wrapped.

Have the same combo. The self-tapers in the liners did not hold up when off-roading. Most of them broke loose and I had to make due with zip ties to keep them in. Not a believer in self-tapers, a temporary solution like zip ties. I choose the 37 KO2’s as I know they are the smaller 37 at 36.4 but I was still hitting the liners when off-roading.

Did you move over the 3 brackets from the OEM fenders to the Boatecs? I used new hardware for the brackets in the door jam but looks like I am going to need to reuse the front bracket.

Yes. I drilled out the rivers and bolted them to the botecs.

Never had an issue with self tapping screws on the race car. I wish I could say I did more heavy off-roading. But not much here in FL. So I think it will be fine. Not sure how I would hit them as they are tight to the frame. That would mean I would hit the frame. Never had a contact issue with the stock setup so I don’t anticipate any issues with this given I have more clearance.

But time will tell

Man I rubbed the stock liners when running 35’s, lol. You need to off-road and flex it.

Think a race car would be different. Hitting the liners at full compression at high speeds just grabs the liners.

Here are the same liners as yours and you can see where its been rubbing. And the liners are up tight on everything.
