Hey everyone,

Wanted to thank the members of the forum for their reviews of the exhaust. I was poking around to get an idea of how people felt about it. I'd say Borla has some really great videos comparing the two. I ended up going w/ the ATAK and am very happy with it.

It was about a 2 hour install - the instructions were decent but missing a few things. Make sure you drop the spare when you start and have a 15mm short socket in addition to the deep walls.

Nick@GotExhaust was on the money. Quick and efficient. Placed the order Wednesday, showed up today around 1200 and threw it on.

Here's a quick video I made going over it:

I was all set on the AWE 2fg and then got cold feet due to some drone/vibration/unpleasant noise at low rpm/high gears so started more listening and research.

I have had Borla in the past on all my cars, including an S type currently on my '12 Gt500...but on the Raptor, the S and Atak more so seem to sound like a lot of I guess what I would call rasp in the videos of take offs and flybys...any comments on how tinny/raspy it is in person? Any drone or unwanted noise/vibrations at low rpm/high gears or when shifting?

It definitely has a loud rasp as you call it when you go full hammer. It's tamer with normal light driving. I wouldn't say it has a drone at highway speeds, to me a drone is a harmonic vibration that's annoying at any speed, but it certainly can be heard when rolling along. I've come to enjoy it, but it is definitely LOUD when you take off full throttle.

I had a 6.0 Powerstroke back in the day with a straight pipe. If you've heard one of those when the boost kicks in, I'd say this sounds very similar. Has that loud post-turbo raaaaaaaaap to it.

2fg has no rasp and sounds great outside the car. Inside is a bit dicey though.

I left mine on. In hindsight maybe I should have turned it off. A neighbor has the ATAK and it sounds straight up stupid. Awful sounding exhaust in my opinion. I’d be embarrassed driving it around. I realize everyone has different tastes though. To each their own.

I installed the Borla S type and literally was embarrassed to drive it. I got under the truck to make sure they didn’t install the Atak by mistake. The sound, honestly it is hard to describe, well the guy who installed it actually described it best “Sounds like two goats fighting.” In my opinion didn’t sound anything like the numerous you tube videos I watched/listened to. I have had Borla products in most all of my vehicles, most recently 2019 Yukon Denali (The S type as well) and would go with Borla again, just not on this truck. Either way, I called Borla and explained the situation and they allowed me to return for full refund and I put the stock back on. Great Customer service, great product, just not the sound I was looking for on the Raptor.

There’s absolutely rasp when shifting on heavy throttle - but it sounds appropriate. Like any performance engine you’ve heard (IMO).

Once above 7th gear, the exhaust is quite tame. I generally have a window open and music so I can’t hear it at all. When I closed everything up to listen, it’s more audible than the stock exhaust however it’s not at a level that bothers me at all.

I don’t get any tinny sensation whatsoever.
