Looking around on Google, seems quite a few are having overheating issues. Others, no issues at all.

That is true. My brother has the exact same setup and no issue

Might be a bad batch out there

I purchased my device in Nov of 2018 and have sinced moved to Arizona. I had mine set to parking mode with a temp probe near the unit and the inside of the truck read 122 degrees no overheating issue thus far. I’m using a Samsung PRO Endurance 128gb Micro sd card, not the suggested BlackVue SD card

Swapped out camera for a DR750-2CH and knock on wood, no overheat as of yet.

Shop thinks it might be a bad batch of 4K cameras. The sole US distributor for Blackvue is reporting more failures of 4K cameras from other customers across the US.

GoPro has some pretty serious sudden stopping issues too with at least some models. My hero 4and 2 hero5 session have all been warranty replaced. It wasn’t until I had one with a more informative display that I found the sd cards were causing the grief. Even several of the approved by GoPro cards would fault.

I bought several SD cards from amazon and returned the ones that faulted. I think even the fastest cards have trouble with 4K and high frame rates. Try some different cards if you encounter weird camera issues.

the 6 series were prone to overheating issues. not so much the 9 series. check the wiring and see if there was a pinched cable somewhere

The shop that I purchased/had the unit installed swapped out the 4K for a DR750 just to see if the problem persists. Blackvue has only 1 US Distributor that supplies these cameras to all the shops throughout the US according to the shop I am working with. The Distributor now reports more customers across the US are reporting OVERHEAT issues with the DR900S-2CH 4K.

Also the voltage does not drop when the truck goes into sleep mode.

Update: DR750 is now also OVERHEATING. Frustrating to say the least.

we install 4-6 of these a week we havent seen any issues yet. the 6 series we had a few problems. if the new one is still overheating, there may be an issue with the power. we had someone come in with a different camera and it was turning on and off randomly. we found a pinched cable which is what was causing the issue. maybe look into that if possible.
